Composite materials are widely used in aerospace – they provide the best specific mechanical properties among other structural materials such as metals or alloys.
But there are numerous issues that signinfcantly limit the applications and nullify the efficiency of composite structures. Among them are high cost, technological limitations, inspection and service issues, design complications and many others.
3d printing composites for aerospace: challenges, applications and use cases
by Fedor Antonov, Anisoprint
Anisoprining is a new way of design and production things from composites with continuous fibers. Anisoprinted parts are stronger, lighter and cheaper than their counterparts from the other materials.
This approach to producing objects can significantly change the manufacturing process in many fields including aerospace.
